Is anyone else having this problem with the new Doom?
I cannot get the multiplayer to work at all. I have owned the game for about a month and I haven't been able to play a single match. I have been in the same lobby I am currently in for about 30 minutes and it's still doing the same thing. First it says "Searching" then "Connecting" then "Waiting for 3 more players" and then starts all over again. I have tried just about everything, waiting extended periods of time, shutting my xbone off (yes, xbone, sorry guys), exiting and rendering the game, nothing works. I haven't opened the suggested source ports because a) idk how to do that and b) I shouldn't have to.
Lucky for me I didn't get it for the multiplayer so I'm not too bummed out that I can't get it to work. Nevertheless, is anyone else having this problem and can it be fixed?
Also note, an update for multiplayer has come out and I still can't play the multiplayer.

I'd reboot the Jak series and scrape everything, we'll call it Jok and Doxter (name not final). Jok is now a 3D metroidvania platformer where Jok now has to explore areas to gain powerups, health upgrades, items, and weapons. This not only encourages more platforming and exploring like in the first Jak but gives players more freedom to play the way they like, while keeping what the later titles brought to the franchise.
The player can explore the open world for guns, gun mods, health upgrades, eco powers, but he doesn't have to get them at all. Much like in Metroid titles you can get power ups to help you with your gameplay or play minimally for a challenge/speedruns. About guns, the aiming system was awful in the Jak2&3, the gun autmatically pointed at the enemy; I'd change it by implementing a third person shooter system whenever a gun is used.
Story wise, remove all that bullshit about timetravel. Their planet is huge and can have all kinds of nations and empires to replace Haven City. So in the original Trilogy you could have easily transitioned time traveling into an advanced city to villagers end up in advanced expanding empire.

Excessive Effects
Does anyone else feel somewhat dizzy whenever playing newer games? Things like in the Dying Light pic, despite running at a decent FoV and max settings with constant 60fps still feel dizzy. It's hard to focus on things, and I just end up getting a headache while trying to get a clear picture of what the fuck is going on during fights or ESPECIALLY cutscenes. It's not even this game specifically, I've had this problem with a lot of games for a few years now.
Meanwhile with things like the Blade of Darkness pic, it just feels crystal clear and actually pleasant to play.

so i just finished max payne 3, and god damn is it an insult to the franchise ( really just the first one because the second one was about half as bad as this one)
I fucking hate rockstar, there never quite sure if they want to make a movie, or a game, and end up with neither. First off, i had to sit and watch fucking cutscenes for the first 20 minutes to set up everything and get it out of the way, which is an obnoxious amout of time, i want to play a game, not watch a fucking movie. then, and i can only assume they do this because "muh immerseion," instead of making clear delineations between cutscene and game, they like to throw you right back into the game the second the cutscene ends. this sounds immersive™ on paper, but for me, it meant i couldnt relax and take my hands off the KB+M and enjoy the fucking 3 minute movie because i had to be on the alert for when the game threw me back into the shooting.
oh, and another thing, after every.fucking.cutscene. max pulls out his fucking pistol, even though i have a rifle. WHY WOULD I WANT TO USE THE PISTOL IF IM HOLDING THE RIFLE? LET ME KEEP THE GODDAMN RIFLE EQUIPPED. THIS WOULDNT EVEN BE A PROBLEM IF YOU DIDNT IMMEDIATELY TAKE ME OUT OF THE CUTSCENE WITH BADGUYS IN MY FACE. FUCK, sometimes, id be given control back out of cover while being fired at and immediately die. not to mention the stupid fucking gun selection wheel is designed with gamepads in mind.
and thats another thing? why the FUCK am i taking cover? why is this even an option? this is max payne, not Gears of war. to further incentivise taking cover, shootdodge is nerfed to shit ( it takes max a second has to hunch is lard ass in the direction you jump and then max will just lay on the floor until you make him get up, and he gets up incredibly slowly) not to mention the enviroment is so incredibly cluttered or narrow in most places you cant even really take advantage of shootdodging without hitting something the moment you jump and being knocked out of it and on the floor.

I have a game for you /v/, think about one of your favorite games in a specific genre. Now try to find a negative review for it, but the catch is that it's a negative review you're having a hard time disagreeing with.
I picked Empire Earth 2, it's my favorite 4x RTS out there and it's even superior to Rise of Nations, however this review while negative, really hit the nail with problems I encountered with the game and documentation.

Just tried to play Castle Story, I must say it's a cool game. It's honestly everything I would expect from a casualized version of a 3d Dwarf Fortress, but Jesus Christ is it poorly optimized right now. Granted my machine is old now (pic related) and I'm using a monitor that's 1600*900, but surely this thing should be able to run it at the highest settings, right?

I'm a pleb and play on consoles but I use to play on PC so I still sit at my desk all hunched over like I'm using mouse and keyboard still so wireless isn't really that much of an issue for me except when i need to get up to do something. Just wondering if it's really worth it to dish out the extra $50 for the A50's, is the sound really that much more improved or are the A40 TR's actually better? Figured there's a chance someone on here has used both headsets and that they can tell me which one they preferred.

Strategy #1: Use infantry on left side to whittle down first base. Form perimeter with troops on backend. Reinforce with a sniper/SAS with donated sniper rifle and riflemen in bushes a the fork. Try to attack radio base from left with remainder SAS troops over hill for vantage. Take coastal base from left. Use SAS sniper to pick off far and incoming troops/
Result: Failed. Got overwhelmed by reinforcements from north. Radio base nazis heavily entrenched. Grenades do little. Need armour or encirclement to kill them.
Strategy #2: Use armoured car in direct control for harassment of right side after popping smoke on road. Use 40mm to take out PaK AT guns. Wipe out left defenses of radio base. Move into coastal base with infantry with suppressive fire from AC.
Result: Failed. Can't hit guns that far away. Smoke doesn't work and I get blasted.

Come simulate politics on autismcraft! This is an experiment to determine what political ideal will result in a group dominating other nations, based on how successful their ideology turns out to be. Players can create a faction and compete against others or go solo and play normally. Dude if this game were more stable I could imagine amazing surface battles using your assault rifles, artillery, vehicle mounted suppressive fire, air support, air dropping supplies or troops, etc. All the while a battle in space happens so they can move into position for orbital bombardments against the enemy.

Loki apologists will be invisible and never kill, buff, debuff, or heal anything. They may disarm people around them but that doesn't help jack shit. This is pretty much akin to all new players in TF2 want to go sniper or spy because they think helping is them not being in a direct fight.
Loki players and apologists ruin teams and go on and on about how they are the only one doing anything in the face of nova, trin, rhino, and frost players. Loki does not help in intercept, deference, excavation, or sabotage, he has no AOE, and no procs but a rad one with an augement.
He's for a select few missions but lokifags are delusional sociopathic children with ego problems.

I'd like to get a good discussion going about VR headsets.
Specifically I'd like to dispel the idea constantly parroted on abanchaned that VR is nothing more than a gimmick.
VR headsets offer a more flexible control scheme for games. Mostly in FPS games.
It's that simple.
Think about it. What do you usually have?
WASD for movement
Mouse for camera and aiming
Your sight and what/where your character is aiming to interact with, shoot, swing, or whatever are deeply coupled.
It's very apparent in a first person game with melee focus as you have to swing your view around like a madman to block or slash where you want.
These games can't get very in depth of complex with what you can do with this kind of coupling.
Now imagine this.

Instantly you see improvements and more natural control, whether the game is designed around it or not.
This kind of flexibility can allow for much butter gameplay and potentially open many new doors for game design.
Well, with an idea of mine that I'd like to prototype you might not need a headset for this benefit.
That idea being an analog stick on the side of your mouse and using it for the camera in an first person control scheme.
However if you combine that with VR you get:

Mouse for aiming
Free reign with your other hand over a wider range of keys for more complex input
An extra axis is certainly the future for FP games.
Any issue with this or can we think about ways to utilize such a control scheme in cool ways?
