There's no ban for "excessive shitposting" in bans.html. The only ban like it in the board-specific mod.php ban list, has "Shitposting" as a reason, and is for a thread saying "Is my Dig Bick /tech/ worthy?", from four days ago. The last shitposting ban before that was 11 weeks ago.

I did notice a ban in the logs that's not in any ban list. It's for "Constant shitposting across threads". Could that be it?

http://8ch.net/log.php?board=tech

I'm going to try to find out why it doesn't show up in any ban list.

I know that it's in the logs. That's why I linked to the logs. But I can't find it in any ban list, so I can't check which post it belongs to. The ban expired at least four days before this thread was made, so I'm not sure if it's the one.

>>2398
Bans for shitposting are actually really rare on 8/tech/. You usually have to deliberately post something that has nothing to do with technology or anything else on the board. Most complaints are about allowing too much.

I couldn't get it to work.

The first issue was the dependencies. That was completely my fault.

Then I had trouble with srnd.ini. It doesn't use the defaults in config.go. I ended up copying the default into my srnd.ini and it worked.

When I logged into the mod panel, I was unable to create new boards (403 forbidden).

I couldn't really figure out what the javascripts were doing, so I just gave up.

I cant be the only skid thinking this.

how do you into nn-tryptachan? I have a feeling there are people posting from the dmt realm as a form of anonymity and obfuscation.
Not to mention the amount of actual things i can add to conversation and now that I know this is not a shitposting venue or a seriousposting compund I feel like it is overchan that is where I can really explain the corruption that is crippiling society. At the same time It would be an underestimation to deduce that those over cant see it how it is

but I want to learn how to know If i am configured right and what deviations from standard chan operational procedure is needed.

also what is with the "federated"? ayy or aye? lmao.

Anonymous 04/13/2016 (Wed) 11:50:17 [Preview] No. 2622 del
>>2617
as long as you don't ban yourself the IP address is never decrypted, the addresses are encrypted with a one time pad, 1 pad unique to each address.

content wise it's almost anything you want it to be, most of it is news/current events/crypto/tech discussion with rando wewposting mixed in.

it is a very big departure from tradition chan operation and format so it's going to feel really different. imo this is for the better as (in theory) new things should come out of it instead of the old tired rehashed crap that is everywhere.

Anonymous 04/13/2016 (Wed) 11:51:57 [Preview] No. 2623 del
also, "federated" means more than 1 server and more than 1 user policy. each server has their own set of rules and they all can talk to each other and sync content similar to how gnusocial is set up. actually it's gnusocial except as an imageboard, probably.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about making things look more clean style wise. Just small css tweaks. Like:

*make the front page just a list of popular boards based on whatever criteria you want and random boards and have the links go straight to the catalog of that board.
*move infoshit to an about page.
*assuming more themes will come consider moving them away from the topbar
*make image upload required in order to make a new thread

One middle-class server with a dedicated redis cache could handle a couple of thousand GET requests per second, which is where usually the network connection caps out. And apparently, at least according to Hotwheels, the traffic 8chan got before everything went to shit was only around 900 requests per second.
I don't think anybody ever benchmarked the pph it could handle, though.

It had to test this now.
Turned off captcha, called curl to make a new thread 10000 times.
This takes like 2 minutes on my laptop.
That means like 300000 PPH, and that's just single threaded
So I think the software could quite easily handle that amount of load, although file uploads would slow it down with thumbnail generation.

8chan has 2011 i5 servers running slow ass php.
Regardless, they pay a couple of thousand dollars for the traffic, not the servers.

LOL, you started this when I just started to work! Nigger, do a kickstarter now, then a patreon, to get money from retards.

I understand you have reservations about people's "opinion", but don't. NNTPchan needs both a dedicated developer, fuzzer, admin, tester, PM (you), and a way to keep the money flowing. Hopefully when everything gets flowing, you can advertize the fuck out of it, esp. @ tor. Retards like them STILL DONATE MONEY.

One sure way to have normies accepting this shit is to make an an OSX and Android/Replicant app to both host asynchronously, and be able to send massages through anonent & raw nntp.

Actually, in all the leaks, and the constant threads, you learned it was bad code, bad SQL schemas, and worse of all: worst file system in the world: NFS, all in UBUNTU!

So, yes, he was asking for failure from the beginning. He even admit it, that he's failed as an admin. Surely he's never admin shit. I asked him back in 2014 if he know of FreeBSD, ngix, and JAILS. He laughed at me, saying I kno nothing about computers.

Take a moment to think about that. I'll respond after you have pondered that. Heck, don't even believe me, look at the pile of mess he left: https://github.com/ctrlcctrlv/infinity

>>3996
That's a symptom, not the actual problem. I hate PHP, with all that's me, but you can optimize php with many compilers like HPHPc, KPHP, Phalanger, Phalcon, etc.. He just never though 5 steps of his problems, and OUTLINED THEM. Worse, he never documents, EVER. And to think, he wanted to document emoji language specification....

I'll merit, he's good with languages. He should study Nipponese and help translate games⸮

>grace me, what happened?!?

There was some shitty e-celeb drama which might have had some political connections. Someone started spamming the board and the mods overreacted by banning all discussion about it, instead of containing it.

Turns out that the mods were actually spamming their own board in order to control what subjects are discussed. This has been going on in the past, (no holocaust denial, no anti vaxers, no art threads) but never so blatantly.

That is how I eventually dropped by here, and this thread reminded of NNTP. Remembered how *squared started developing it after a similar incident on a specific Tor Chan.

So there's a NNTP chan.
How do you connect to read & post with a standard NNTP client, like Tin, Pine, slrn, etc.?
I checked the docs on github page, but it just says:
> Here's how to configure Pan or Thunderbird
> (blank)

>The only ban like it in the board-specific mod.php ban list, has "Shitposting" as a reason, and is for a thread saying "Is my Dig Bick /tech/ worthy?", from four days ago.
lmao, corrupt /tech/ owner allows any kind of shitpost done by shills and pedos but bans any criticism or satire.
do people still use that failure of a board? i don't want to go back there even for a second.
