Explain. Your comment has no value here if you can't argument.

If two or more people don't want that link up, I can just take it down. It would be up on >>>/os/ since the person running /os/ is also hosting it for someone that goes to both /os/ and /tech/. It's not a true collective effort to say the least, it's just one guy who's curating the links and picked some ideas from a thread that he made on /tech/ so that he could make the claim that it was a collaboration, which if you treat him and the Endwall guy as /tech/ users, then sure, why not. It is not however, the "official end/tech/'s secure computing practices links". If you've got a better list, I might consider putting that up as well if it isn't half assed.

>All those exculsions
He needs to trim the exculsions way down and explain why each country is chosen. Ohterwise he is making people more insecure using that exclusion list rather than more secure.

If he doesn't understand what he is doing here (simple copy/paste from some random anon) he should remove that information entirely.

The link is fine and he does have a disclaimer at the bottom, but that Tor exclusion list needs a heavy revision or be removed.

Anonymous 05/20/2018 (Sun) 00:01:07 [Preview] No.12738 del
Does he has to explain why US, UK, China, Russia and all that stuff is bad? Seriously.

Anonymous 05/20/2018 (Sun) 22:08:34 [Preview] No.12739 del
It should stay up, but if you disagree with the contents then debate it in the thread about the list, and that debate process would make it collective / community based. So that's 1 vote for to keep it up + >>12736 .

So that's two votes for keep it up.

betamax Board owner 05/22/2018 (Tue) 00:20:35 [Preview] No.12740 del
I'm indifferent to it all, blind justice.

Anonymous 06/05/2018 (Tue) 03:48:35 [Preview] No.12759 del
You are quite correct. Unfortunately, there's a lot of snakeoil security in that document and on /tech/ and /os/ in general. There are a couple of posters in particular who regularly dole out dangerously ignorant "security" advice.

betamax Board owner 06/05/2018 (Tue) 05:40:37 [Preview] No.12760 del
Should I make an attempt to restore some flags here?

So another vote for removing that link? Fine by me

>So another vote for removing that link?
There's so much misinformation posted to /tech/ (see the Wireguard thread before I issued several important corrections, for example) that I'm not really sure it matters. If end/tech/ were a bigger board, I'd unironically think that the FUD and confusion that gets spread here was part of an alphabet-soup misinformation campaign, but I don't think they'd even waste a bot here. If you want to consider my post a vote for removing the link, that's fine. It has a number of serious flaws.

For example, absent the context of a threat model and an explanation of the caveats, that list of countries to exclude from Tor circuits is a hot mess, and whatever >>12738 may think, "US UK Russia China 'n' stuff r bad, mmmkay?" isn't a threat model.

betamax Board owner 06/05/2018 (Tue) 14:07:50 [Preview] No.12762 del
Well I won't entirely remove the link, but I'll probably put up a disclaimer and change "Secure Computing Practices Links" into "Unwarranted Paranoid Computing Practices Links" and have a WIP section in the bottom of the sticky.

betamax Board owner 06/05/2018 (Tue) 14:31:07 [Preview] No.12763 del
The main reason I won't entirely remove the link is because this place is a slow board and any user interaction is seen as somewhat genuine with good intentions even through their lack of awareness might make them seem like they're doing otherwise. This time however, a couple of users are simply unaware of their own incompetency which can and is forgiven to an extent, but until they improve upon their work to meet a higher standard of quality for others, it'll be considered to be a work in progress content.

If anyone else want to share their own self hosted technology related website (no tripfags/namefags/avatars/LARPs) or some other neutral but informative website, I'll put it in it own section in the sticky.

Anonymous 06/06/2018 (Wed) 16:35:17 [Preview] No.12764 del
Oh, nice try.
>FUD and confusion
You probably don't know what FUD mean.
>spread here was part of an alphabet-soup misinformation campaign
Clever, you're using or own rhetoric against us. You're the one claiming there's something bad in spreading secure software and hardware information, not us. The list never claimed to be perfect or the most updated with the current securite computing research areas. It's just a list that, well... lists stuff.
>absent the context of a threat model and an explanation of the caveats
Read the thread before will throw your opinion. The list is meant to be a list, not a wiki page. Threat model is irrelevant too. The purpose is not to protect from anything, it's to list stuff you could use. From "Who" you're going to protect, it's up to you.

The critics in this thread are not even critics. There's just opinions. Don't let you emotion interfere in you rational thinking.

ps. Yes, I'm the guy helping with the list. I don't give a shit if you remove, just make a ration decision and not listen to crying babies.

betamax Board owner 06/06/2018 (Wed) 18:22:45 [Preview] No.12765 del
Consider the following:

1. If only a couple of people could update the page then nobody can truly contribute to the website without adhering to the biases of the people behind the website. Therefore, the "Contribute on Endchan" section linking to /tech/ is a lie when it should instead link to /os/.
2. The disclaimer is at the bottom of the page instead of the beginning and is self contradicting, claiming to not need a disclaimer yet proceeds to disclaim that "anything listed here at your own risk".
3. A list without an introductory summary to its overall theory behind it doesn't seek to properly justify its own existence to their targeted audience, ends up creating more "FUD and confusion" according to >>12761.
4. The list have a couple of links irrelevant to its own subject matter.
5. You have failed to grasp the criticism of others seeking to improve the list.
6. Because of all of the above, the list is seen as generic amateur script kiddie shit with unclear, suspicious, ulterior motives.

>denies any user contributions
Ah, so it's NOT a /tech/ contributed list huh? Then there's very much little to no reason to keep the link up on the sticky. Just don't pretend that it's the collected input of end/tech/ contributions anymore. Endwall guy would have much to say otherwise, keeping up a list that wasn't updated for at least six months, but that's more /os/ territory now.

For those that lack the context, here's some old threads:

Notice the gradual change of who's contributing and also notice how that Tor thing was criticized since day one. These days, that anon is only spamming his own list that he had somehow convinced the Endwall guy, AKA Board Owner of /os/ to host, and people here really don't feel compelled to contribute to that list anymore. More could be said as to who that anon is but that's unnecessary for the time being. As much as it was a /tech/ thing, now it's mostly just a website for a certain someone to promote his list as if it is /tech/ approved which it is not.

Anonymous 06/06/2018 (Wed) 22:17:09 [Preview] No.12771 del
>promote his list
Do you really think this matters that much to me? Take a guess, I don't.
You guys can do whatever you want. Endchan stopped being funny manny time ago, that's why I and anyone contributes anymore. I tried to do something. Didn't work. Time wasted.
Now go play moderator as you wish.

Since there was just no way of restoring the old flags, I've uploaded 8chan's custom flags on here except for three which was the ones that wasn't removed from the database error from awhile back. No more broken custom flags.

I didn't make that image but I'm pretty sure that's Alan Turning on the left, Konrad Zuse on the right. Whoever made that image probably like lambda calculus and Haskell.

Was Konrad Zuse a jew?

I'm still not so sharp on their phenotype, in this picture, he seems to have a (((indicative))) nose and a slight weak chin.

I just discovered that guy by reading Sebesta. Didn't know the reich also invented the digital computer.

There were many Jewish people involved in all fields of technology as are people of (more) European descent. Jews and non-Jewish Europeans have a similar IQ (despite the myth)

betamax Board owner 11/04/2018 (Sun) 08:07:52 [Preview] No.12979 del
I see no valid sources claiming that Konrad Zuse being a jewish person. He was overall apolitical, didn't care too much as to who he was working for, rather, the funds necessary to pursue his work. This isn't /pol/ though, so keep such question to a minimum.

Understood. Thank you.

Indeed. One has got to have some neurons to mentalize so much trickery.
