Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1956 Bernd 10/23/2017 (Mon) 07:37:35 [Preview] No. 11397 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
National holiday, no work today only for bus drivers and such.
This revolution and war of independence is called "of 1956" because it's the 1956th such happening in the last 500 years.
I might write something later. Why not.

>1st pic
Mátyás Rákosi, the leader of the communist Hungary between 1949 and 1956, Stalinist dictator. The revolution deposed him and co. sadly they didn't hang around they lived their lives in the CCCP happily ever after.
>2nd pic
Communist Hungarian flag.
>3rd pic
Hungarian flag freed of the burden of the communist emblem.
>4th pic
Imre Nagy, leader of the revolutionary Hungary. Communist, in 1953 appointed as a PM by the soviet overlords but shunned later as he started certain processes which led people to believe they could think more freely now. He was even forced out of the Party in '55. He kinda was the only one who had a chance to be accepted by the SU so he came to be the head of the revolution.

Today index.hu posted an article featuring a bunch of colored photos from the '50s like pic relateds. In fact these are the first four if you're interested you can find more here:

They're giving a link to a historical (1900-1990) photo collection maybe it's worthy to check it out:

Super retarded question for my fellow Amerilards or people acquianted with guns Bernd 12/13/2017 (Wed) 06:29:08 [Preview] No. 12564 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
Can modern rifles shoot homemade paper cartridges if they're the right dimensions? I know "modern" shotguns can since early shotgun shells were paper cartridges until plastic ones become much more feasible. But can modern rifles shoot them? I know you have to "nitrate" the paper so you can avoid cook off. But do you need to add a metallic striker bottom to them?

Yes, just going to a local gun store or pawn shop is properly WAAAAAYYYYY fucking cheaper, I'm just bored and curious.

I'd say yes considering you can shoot blanks, then again it all depends on if you have the proper dimensions cut out and the material being used. It would likely shoot like a blank, but I wouldn't expect it to shoot too far. Really all depends what kind of rifle too.

Bernd 12/21/2017 (Thu) 20:59:43 [Preview] No.12681 del
I have a friend who shoots BB pellets from a regular AR rifle, and I've seen it work. You might just try that instead. Cardboard/paper/cheap plastic could really fuck up your gun.

You can try black powder - DIY-tier & you can join a club to educate yourself.

Then there is the old standard - Dixie Gun Works, Union City, Tennessee for kits to pretend you are a Mountain Man or Civil War re-enactor.

Pacific Rim : Uprising - i can watch this kind of dumb and boring movies full of SFX and CGI only in 4DX3D because otherwise i fall asleep during watching, 6/10

The Shape of Water - everybody is telling me that i should see it thats why i come to see this movie today despite it being on cinemas screens for over a month. The movie is nicely cinematographed and directed. Acting is brilliant too. Michael Shannon's role was the best. But the story about love of a deaf cleaning-woman with some kind of cold-war sea-monster was too weird to make me feel it, 7/10

Daddy Cool - a French comedy that had some nice and funny moments. I liked the story and thanks to this movie i discovered a talented French actor Vincent Elbaz. His role and kids in the movie were sweet. 8/10

In this ITT thread: we self-invented recipes worth trying Bernd 03/24/2018 (Sat) 18:18:22 [Preview] No. 15114 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
One day I had no spaghetti sauce or even olive oil or tomatoes or anything to make sauce with, but I really wanted some angel hair pasta.

So I improvised, after when the angel hair was done and I drained it and ran cool water over it, I drizzled some Sriracha sauce on top, and then some honey at half the ratio of the Sriracha sauce, stirred it up, got distracted, came back to a plate of slightly cooled angel hair pasta with this sauce creation on top.

And it was delicious, and I noted it was even better at the temperature it was at: probably around what it would be in a refrigerator, because it was freezing outside and my heat was not on, and the plate was left next to a window with a bit of a draft. I've made it again and intentionally put it in the refrigerator for a bit, and decided this would be a very fine summer dish.

Then last night I decided to make it after lifting at the gym, and the context called for some protein. So, I made the angel hair with the simple light Sriracha+honey sauce, and also threw a large chicken breast on a pan. I cut it in half, and once it was cooked just slightly almost to the center, I cut it in cubes, drizzled honey on it, some black pepper, Sriracha sauce, and a bit of vegetable oil, and stirred it repeatedly until the center looked cooked. Then I turned the heat off completely and let it cook, while stirred frequently, until it was certainly done. The result was delicious, slightly sweet and spicy chicken with an aesthetic glaze from the honey. I threw that in the fridge as well, then returned and threw the chicken on the bed of angel hair and it was fucking great.

Anything you made on a limb due to lacking proper ingredients which you found to be worth making again?

I don't like honey on my meat. I can eat it but it would never be my choice and frankly people make these stuff to sweet for my taste.
If I would post a recipe then I would do it in the Foods n Drinks thread (most easily can be found via the Catalog), so I rather steer this toward a question: can self-invented recipes exist? I mean there are many, so many recipes already, so even if someone makes up a new it most likely will be a variation of another.

Bernd 03/24/2018 (Sat) 21:23:53 [Preview] No.15129 del
When I was poor as shit and out of decent ingredients I took things from my "emergency food items" (ie canned food and other food that lasts a long) and did the following:

Cooked white rice, but instead of just cooking it with the required amount of water, I used a can of peaches. Yes, canned peaches that come in a sort of syrup. I stirred it up a lot so the peaches were shredded by the uncooked rice and it had become a thick liquid. Then I threw in two handfuls of raisins. Then I cooked the rice.

The result was a very interestingly sweet grape-peach flavored pot of rice with passably appetizing texture. I would do this again.

Now, is that a "self-made" recipe or a variation on something? A variation on white rice? This is getting stupid.

We have this recipe where we cook the rice in milk with some sugar. The topping can be cocoa, cinnamon, but many times it's jam, or some fruit, typically peach. What you cooked sounds like this, minus milk.

I'm not even sure if you're trolling.

This is like smugly saying ketchup is merely a variation of marinara sauce whilst pushing your plastic rimmed glasses upwards with one finger.

Is there a dedicated joke collection site that lists individual jokes as encyclopedia-like entries with tags for their theme (blonde jokes, negro jokes, family jokes and so on), obscenity, structure, punchline delivery method and so on, while also listing jokes with the exact same structure and different characters (like the joke about world leaders jumping out of a plane) and doing all of this in a professional and consistent manner?

Bernd 11/28/2017 (Tue) 06:38:02 [Preview] No.12186 del
I wouldn't think so. Hungarian joke repositories have labels and a joke can have more then one but these labels are just
>blonde jokes, negro jokes, family jokes
type of categories.
I'd assume English collections work the same. I dunno maybe German sites.

Today is Rudolf Maister day. 99 years ago, Rudolf Maister seized the city of Marburg (today: Maribor), to inform the local Kr*ut community that considering that the countryside around them is ethnic Slovene, they won't be getting to stay in Austria. The fucking Kr*uts later tried to start shit and got their shit fucked up, and to this very day they cry about the 9-13 Kr*uts that were killed in the resulting riot against the armed forces, and 60+ injured. Strudl was successfully removed that day. As a consequence, Lower Styria was successfully joined to the rest of Slovene territory. Such was however not the fate of Carinthia south of Drava river, which was instead liberated by S*rbs when it was clear already that Slovenia will not be independent, but instead transferred to Kingdom of Serbia. Sad!
