what if black holes are a way to warp timespace and some alien civilization is building its space highways - meaning they need to spawn these black holes to travel faster through the universe and our sun is spawned for the same purpose and life on earth is unintended consequence of their universe infrastructure project. kind of like the ants near the highway road

This is unrelated, but I cant believe it took them so damn long to photograph a blackhole. I know it took 2 years to process one photo, and yet they didn't even try to photograph one in the past half century.

When I was a kid I loved learning astronomy, but the non-existence of a photo of a black hole made me doubt their existence. After all, assuming God intellegently designed the universe, then he wouldn't possibly allow all the matter in the universe to fall ino cosmic pits, where it would be unable to escape, until someday all the matter was captured by black holes. Steven Hawking was just a worthless atheist to me, and blackholes would make no sense in an orderly Christian cosmos. It sounded like pure theory without photographic proof, and caused me to doubt the rest of science including evolution. This kept me a theist longer than it should have.

If there are any scientists here my message to you is you need to take photos to convince kids when they're still kids.

how do you know it's not fake? how do you know it's a black hole and not something other? is it just because modern science told you so? popular science is the new religion in a way. we all blindly believe what they tell us without questioning

They don't have an incentive to fake it, and if they tried with ground-based astronomy then peer review would catch it. Anyone who disproved this would instantly become famous.
