From Palpatine using a Jedi who's dead to create the actually illegal clone army, all the way to him becoming the head of a banking clan after its leader mysteriously died. Hell it's not just Palpatine doing shady shit, in Ep II Dooku reveals to Obiwan that a sithlord is currently manipulating the senate and council.

Dooku was tired of the Jedi and their arrogant "holier than though" ways, which is why he "defected" to the Dark Side. Maybe all of this shit was laid out in the lore about the prequels in the EU. Or maybe George was really on to something but fell flat on his fucking face due to lack of direction. Either way I'll never know because I never gave a shit about the EU.

All I know is that the prequels had some pretty cool shit in them that I wish was handled much more efficiently.

Yea. The background stuff is pretty good but the acting and pacing is really bad. I saw a pretty convincing argument from reddit that my friend showed me that Lucas may have planned for Jar Jar to be revealed as a villain but since he was so unpopular from ep 1 he dropped the reveal. He's always there conveniently and helps to prop Palpatine up as Emperor/Chancellor. There was a moment or two where it appears upon replay that he does some crazy shit that would necessitate force powers. Interesting but I think it's a little too subtle for Lucas.

I watch Return of the Sith constantly these days in the background, I am amazed it all wrapped up so well. I loved EP7 the best.

But you make good points about the prequels, I always thought there is so much to see there in the early intrigues that allowed Palpy to at the right time, pull one thread and have the whole thing unravel.
