PSP port of Initial D Arcade Stage 3, the last one after the series underwent major overhauls.
For the uninitiated, arcadey racing game with a relatively fast pace and stylish driftan, you need to get accustomed to the controls but otherwise a fun game.
Yes you can use the gutter technique while listening to eurobeat.
Covers the happenings of the anime up to the end of 4th Stage, save for God Foot and God Hand. So no NSX or Fairlady Z, but I think this is the last entry to have the GT-FOUR ST205.
There are however some extra cars that manage to appear in 5th Stage.

>WTF I PRESS TA DRIFT, NIGGA?
>I dunno nigga, try tha chinese button!
>NIGGA DEY ALL CHINESE!
Game is in japanese but you don't need to know japanese at all. There are barely any menus you'll be going through and the most important HUD elements are english. Not to mention that main menu has fucken pictures to help you. Nevertheless, for the weaklings I provide an english manual that was distributed with the Asian distribution.

>Ok then, where do I start with this?
There's the Story Mode, you fight 99% of the battles the anime covered when this came out, at the end you get to fight Bunta in his Impreza and unlock Bunta Mode.
There's Time Attack, where you can make times and fight the times you already made. You can fight your spooky ghost for a pseudo battle.
Then there's the multiplayer but I dunno about that, never played it. Apparently it works perfectly, even on the emulator, but figure that shit yourself.
Finally there's Bunta mode where you basically fight Bunta on all tracks and grind for difficulty stars.

After each completed race you get to choose 1 from 3 random cards (that are conveniently exposed in the emulated version). The details are in the provided FAQ.
tl;dr the cards with the highlighted suspension are performance upgrades, the cards with body panels and such are outside improvements, and everything else is largely irrelevant.

>Nice, point of this thread though?

League of Legends

So they're releasing a new character. This one seems a little more interesting due to the spell theft dynamic you can probably steal a lot of flashes during a team fight.

Unfortunately they're turning IP into Blue Essence next season and it will be impossible to buy champions you like for free without RNGing. I just knew they're gonna Jew out so I bought all of the characters I have the slightest interest in with my saved up IP before they devalue the in-game currency and make it nearly impossible to buy characters without real money.

idea guy

Okay, a game idea:

It's golf, right? Everybody and their mom can make a decent engine that's fun at its own, but it gets better: in this one you golf down a snowy peak. Then the game generates a route through a vast pre-made mountainside that you have to slide down against an opponent, and what you want to do is look for 'Collide Airs': you tackle each other mid-jump, and that triggers a WWE style air combat a few seconds at a time where you try to pin the opponent and perform a style combo, which factors in what kind of a swing you originally did and how close to a checkpoint it lands. A really bad performance nets a few swings for the player where he will have to catch up playing normal golf, but every checkpoint launches another time you get to ride down the peak at the same time and try to fight.

Distribution methods

I figured out the way I want to buy games. There should be platform that's marketed like a little greenhouse garden and your purchases would be handled like a growing stock. Let's say Shovel Knight was available on that platform, the way it should work is that you could buy the vanilla version in 2014 and it would be titled for instance "Shovel Knight 1500" for the 15 bucks you paid for it. What would happen is that just like Shovel Knight in fact did get a lot of free DLC for first time buyers, and was notably cheap early on but heftier by now, the platform should format free updates in a way so that your $15 purchase would grow by itself into a "Shovel Knight 2300" and beyond, and at that point the vanilla version plus all finished DLC would be 23 dollars to buy on the spot. It would handle DLC as a free early adopter bonus by default. Then I would be happy to even get double dipped with a full physical edition later on with my absolute favorite games, after my scant savings helped the company early on when it counted the most.

I wouldn't make it a mandatory to give free updates, but only to stick to the format. There would be companies that would release games with little to no "growth", but even then it would just be a neat and transparent way to market the value of those games. Customers could make their judgement if growth is the end-all worth or if they're happy with a good game that's samll but full experience right out of the gate. And of course it's exploitable with "over-valuing" a game by overpricing the free DLC, but I don't think trickery like that would get anybody very far or cause any real problems since you still get to buy the games you want to buy at the price they're available, not counting on always getting free enhancements is already just common sense.

Did they really? He also mentions something about car company employees paying more taxes than the companies themselves. How deep does Deus Ex go?

R: 16 / I: 3 / P: 2

There was this one thread in which platformers were being discussed really in depth. Specifically Sonic platformers in 3d, and I think I have an idea on how to fix the combat while adding to the platforming. Why not, when you destroy more than one enemy by jumping on top of them, the camera changes to bird's eye view?

This COMPLETELY does away with the shitty auto aim mechanics we see in 3d Sonics without compromising jumping speed like in the 3d Mario, Pacman or Crash games.

2D platformers

Do you think 2D platformers with anime sprites are still viable? I've been thinking of making a platform with Sonic physics set in the slippery snow, except instead you play as a cute armless ice skater who has to fight by slashing enemies with her kicks. The world would be a fantasy environment that encourages you to explore like Donkey Kong Country 2, and the gameplay would punish you for misjudging your speed or timing as you burst through ice walls.

I am concerned that the current generation only cares about Unity engine and 3D games. I might not even be able to break even if I ever sold the game, and to be honest It's hard to motivate myself to make it if I'm just doing it for free.

NIS America apologizes for quality of Ys VIII localization, fix due out by end of November.

>To All Customers of Ys VIII,
>Thank you for all the feedback and support we have received since the launch of Ys VIII. It has come to my attention that the quality of the Ys VIII localization has not reached an acceptable level by our own standards, but most importantly by yours. As president of NIS America, Inc. I want to apologize to you personally for this grave error. This situation should not have happened – especially to a game as wonderful as Ys VIII and by a company that strives to deliver the very best customer experience in each title. We have begun internally to investigate the causes of this situation as well as to implement steps to ensure that a similar situation does not occur again.
>As for Ys VIII itself, we will have a new translator and editor go over the entire localization to fix grammatical errors, typos, inconsistencies, and also to take a fresh look at the dialog and characterizations. For the script, where necessary, we will re-translate and re-edit the game including updating voicework to reflect these changes. We plan to have this work done by the end of November and will offer the updated localization free of charge for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game via patch. The Steam version of the game will include this localization in its initial release.
>We humbly request your patience in this process.
>Again, as the president and CEO of NIS America, Inc, I deeply apologize and vow to you that we will bring the quality of the localization of Ys VIII up to the high standards that it and you deserve.
>Please allow us this opportunity to restore your faith in NIS America, Inc.
>Sincerely, Takuro Yamashita

platformer stuff

Platformer is called a genre, but it's so inaccurate that it's essentially a style of presentation, like 2D. It's woefully useless at describing what kind of challenge you're in for because it includes any games that have a gravitational pull to a single direction. I'm always being sold a "platformer" that ends up being carried by some entirely different mechanic but it has an occasional, trivial hole to jump over every here and there. I haven't even played most Vanillaware games yet because they don't seem to fit my niche, but I hate that I have to rely on my hunch about these things so much since reviews don't even clearly mention what kind of details there is to a game. Usually they neglect to mention everything that isn't obvious from screenshots anyway, like when they go on and on about Super Meat Boy being hard as nails as you kinda expect but won't say what kind of physics premise it's using.

Medium gravity, strong jump force and slight slip platforms that stick on contact by the way is how I would describe it. Contrast that with There's No Time To Explain having strong gravity, weak jump force, but boost momentum buildup that results in a lot more physics-based platforming. Both have the thing that's best explained by not being fixed jumping arcs. You can move in air. It's better to assume so for every game and take Castlevania as a special case, but you have to know what to say is the main difference between Metroidvanias and Classicvanias.

And that's not even exactly what I mean by platforming, it's just the control half of it. Although I guess a good game actually includes all possible kinds of interesting challenge for a given set of controls, so you can just rule them as good or bad, but I'm not really satisfied with that conclusion.

desparate self-delusion thread

Tatsumi Kimishima is bringing Nintendo back to the cutthroat corporate stylings of the Yamauchis', surely. That means they will finally rob the grave of Gunpei Yokoi that the previous commie regime "honored" out of "respect", and start churning out mass-pandering remakes and iterations of the IP's buried with Nintendo R&D1, such as Ice Climber and Princess Daisy, along with newfangled passing trends like "good netcode", whatever that is.

WORM Online General

This is a thread for documenting the development of my video game, W.O.R.M. Gear Online (subject to change in the future). I've been working on this for about 3 months now. Most of the Client/Server code is already done, because I'm salvaging it from a more ambitious project that was already quite developed. W.O.R.M. Gear Online is a 3D FPS, except instead of translating along the ground, the player is a flying drone, so we can translate vertically as well. The bulk of the weapons and drones are finished being developed, but still need a lot of fine tuning (e.g., is the shotgun too weak/OP?). I would also like to say that I'm on the look out for a level designer, and/or anyone else willing to contribute as a tester when the alpha is released. It's all so tiresome as a 1 man "team." Anyways, I keep my chin up, and plod on as always. Nietzsche once said, "An artist needs only his art, and his bread." In those days, paint and brushes were much simpler, notwithstanding period-blood paintings. Happy trails, lads. Will post progress here.

Midway Games sold Cruzin to the Jews

Ok so I tried Cruzin Blast, the new arcade game in the Cruzing USA and Cruzin World series licensed by a new company because the original developer, Midway, quit.

My biggest gripe is there is no brake. Etc? I'm used to swerving around Initial d style l, and it feels super casual when the only thing you do is hold the accelerator down aside feom hitting the rocket blast button to use your 3-4 rockets once each to accelerate in the match. It felt casual as fuck.

Worse yet, there are only 5 short levels and ahen I got first place I didn't even get a free continue like in older games in the series. At least I enjoyed the scripted events and the exaggerated physics, which is a lot of the appeal of this series...the T-rexes in Madagascar, and F-18s in Death Valley were fun to look at.

But this franchise has turned disappointingly Jewish. It felt too easy to win, and the levels ended too fast per dollar. I am not at all interested in replaying any of the levels I played.

I came across this shit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/5vymei/so_who_owns_the_croc_series/

The Croc game series was developed by the previously dissolved Argonaut, the company comparable to Rareware who desigend the FX chip that basically made the original Star Fox even possible. Nowadays the IP is allegedly owned by Argonaut CEO Jez San, brass at Funfair Technologies and Ninja Theory, both to their own right very new tech oriented companies but haven't made very notable splashes in the software market.

I don't have a point to make about it.

emergent thread

I enjoy the organic writing of video games, employed heavily by Dark Souls and, surprisingly, Nintendo games. Stories that are reflective of reality in which they were created, but not metanarratives in a deliberate and ham-fisted way. It does have a fault at being susceptible to LOST style mysteryboxing and seeing what sticks out of the shit being thrown at a wall, as well as the following GAYYYMTHEORizing, but that's only in the case when an individual writer does cut some corners, not the fault of what the potential of the medium is to begin with.

League of Legends

R: 2 / I: 1 / P: 4

I can't be the only one that's bothered by literal children playing video games intended for mature audiences. Especially when it's a story heavy game, it's almost insulting to the developers because the children playing are likely too stupid to comprehend the story. Take Hotline Miami for example. This fantastic game with an intriguing story is saturated with a community of morons (many of whom are children younger than fourteen, believe it or not) who post furry-tier trash like pic related. There's also the old tried and true example of Call of Duty. The classic world war two fps overtaken by spoiled young children with virtual bloodlust and short attention spans.

Children ruin literally every piece of media they touch.

We need a game with new age themes

So the new age people who collect healing stones (just rocks and gems).....do they think they're playing a RPG? I mean they seem to think certain stones will protect them from debuffs like cancer, poison, or bad energies that would power down their attack points.

Sounds like a great idea for a video game...picture yourself walking around Portland, Oregon fighting antifa, angry heavy metal fans, anarchist punks, Wiccans, and methheads on skateboards. Later you must collect the special rings from conservative sororities to unlock the seal on the dean's heart and free Evergreen University from liberal tyranny.

There could even be a level where you have to escort RICHARD DAWKINS past crazy liberals and Muslims into the heart of irrational America: Berkley. In his radiant presence all of the magical rings lose their effect.

R: 11 / I: 3 / P: 5

Empty boxes

This will never happen because it's inconvenient for each company's own proprietary DRM, but I wish game collecting turned into buying a chip that contains space for the data, plus an universal, cartridge-specific license to download the game from any cooperating hardware manufacturer's own internet store.

This could happen if a single company became like reverse Nintendo: establish their own cartridge format without even having your own console for it. Imagine if Limited Run Games started manufacturing a cartridge and a card reader that works on PC, and console manufacturers were convinced to support indies by including a port for that card reader.

Every day you would log in and spend production points to expand your space station and buy types of warships, and you could use those to attack other players and potentially capture the colonies they built which would spell a game-over.

I think the creator lost interest and shut his website down after a year or two. I don't know, was there more to the story? It was kind of fun.

I've been looking at some Black OPs 3 footage and it doesn't look that bad. So I'm just wondering aside from Activision being a bunch of DLC pushing kikes, and the broken respawn system plus health kits is there a real reason one should hate it? The movement system reminds me more of Mirror's Edge than the shitty sequel EA DICE gave us. The shooting doesn't get in the way of gaining momentum while parkouring and it's interesting seeing people balance iron sights with wall running.

Are normalfags brain dead retarded, or am I just missing something?

Space Station 13

I have:
A codebase (/tg/station)
A map that's not been used to death (Omegastation)
A somewhat crappy home box to host from.

I don't have:
Stellar internet connection (ping may be an issue, Works For Me though)
Faggot admins or coders (or any admins or coders at all)
Any special gimmicks that set this server apart from most others, unless you count not having the usual faggot crew on the admin team as a gimmick.
Players to do spess things on a spess station with.

The Omegastation map is somewhat small and only has two Heads of Staff by default, the Captain and the HoP. The HoP and/or Captain can give department permissions of the missing Heads of Staff to crew members as needed.
There aren't facilities for Virology or Genetics on this map at round start. Meaning you'll have to make your own if you want to utilize them.
There isn't a singulo, TEG, tesla or solars, the station is powered by Supermatter Engine only right now. Once I figure out mapping I plan on offering alternatives as I know some people prefer singulo over supermatter and whatnot.

As I said earlier, this is a home box I'm hosting from so the ping may suck ass for anyone trying to connect. I'm just trying to offer some alternative to the big stations on the Hub and places like /vg/station, /tg/station and even the current station on 8/v/ which all seem to attract some serious shitters.
