Back again with even more musings to the universe's plotholes thanks to Automata and the Grimoire Weiss, as well as in general in-game content. Does fusing while being overseen and preformed by the Grimoires even fuse the Replicant's soul and Gestalt
? Or does such a fusion effectively destroy the Replicant's soul in preference to the Gestalt's
? This really opens up a mean can of worms, because that means there truly wasn't a good ending for Nier.
Even if the Shadowlord had been patient and waited for the Androids to break the news to Father Nier as well as convince him to fuse
via the Grimoire System, it means that the Replicants would have still received the short end of the stick
. It's as it has been pointed out many times before, in the Nier universe you can't say that the Gestalts or Replicants
are the true villains. You really can't, they FOR THE MOST PART, all have good reasons as to why they're at conflict as well as underlying reasons unknown to both. And yes, this dilemma is a reason unknown to both, you have to remember that during the early days of the Gestalt Project, Replicants had not acquired full sentience yet
In fact they along with Androids, specifically the predecessors to YorHa were used to wage holy wars against the Red Eye and his Legion.
