I was raised by second-generation Norwegians and we had these Christmas books that were super-highly detailed and had like borders around all the illustrations that had little 'easter eggs' that would change every couple of panels.

The story was always about this little blonde girl. She'd have to do things like go tend to reindeer, or pick berries. I don't remember much else but they were a really sweet series of books that had definitive traditional sentiments. I also vaguely remember one of the books making fun of the idea of "rudolph the red nosed reindeer" by having a sequence of one of the reindeer eating from a trough and him coming up with a tomato or something over his snout.
