For your clarification, I am not the OP.
If an individual wanted to observe the news, they could easily frequent the news board. Speaking for myself and the OP, we care not for the news (At the very least, the news hosted on /news/), so we are here in this thread complaining about the news bulletin on the home page. Considering the fact that alternative News-oriented boards could be created in the future (And they may already exist), if /news/ continues to be the only board on the home page, it would show only the content on that board and not the other potential boards (Unless of course you changed this in the future, but as of now, it is only /news/). I will list these problems below to make this message easier to interpret:
1) Forces content onto users, individuals who want to see the news can frequent /news/.
2) First impressions are quite important, and some may be less likely to look at the website if they don't like what they see.
3) Other board owners could potentially become jealous due to their content not being hosted on the home page (Hey, why isn't there a bulletin for /tech/?)
4) It gives even more power to that faggot in charge of /pol/ and now /news/
Just move Current top boards or recent posts into it's place, it will make the home page leaner and will also stop one single board from receiving attention from the beginning.
