Please extend the board title text string limit, fambino!

Oob! Ooh! Also why are upper and lowercase letters treated as separate? I like how the flag page arranges things automatically but it's strange to count upper and lower case as two different things, you know?

Ooh! Ooh! Also HTML in the board message field is essential! Is that something you were thinking of implementing at some point?

Thanks in advance

That's a Unix standard which is used on pretty much every operating system, the reason you think it's weird is because you probably use windows.

>>6627
That's p.labelname. You should be able to make that bigger with CSS.

>>6632
I don't get why you would want that.

Not admin btw.

Ok, will look into getting these implemented this week

This is a safety thing. What HTML tags do you want to use?

>This is a safety thing. What HTML tags do you want to use?

Just anchor tags as in the image for the most part. Sorry I should have specified-it's nice to be able to put backlinks to other boards or sites in the board message.

Kind of a tangent but I also noticed when editing a post as a moderator you can only edit the text field and not the subject field, name field or the file (though you can delete the file as part of a separate operation) and thought it would be nice to be able to edit any user submitted data if necessary (or if personally requested).

OOH! OOH! Also can you make it so you can embed media from youtube, vimeo etc. in a post (in lieu of uploading an image or webm file) in the same way you can with vichan? It's nice to be able to start a thread on an "image or media file required" board with easily accessible off-site content, and to have a screenshot preview you don't have to mouse over to see if you know what I'm talmbout

No, what you ask is google tracking content on the site. Just upload a file, jesus christ.

>muh google

Please give me one good reason to care, fam. For better or worse, Google Earth isn't just an application anymore.

Besides, youtube already embeds itself in the page when included in the body of the post does it not? What I'm suggesting changes nothing as far as I'm aware.

Was this site really created to "stick it to the man xd" or was it created to give users a feature-rich, efficient and stable discussion platform? If it's the latter I don't feel that 8chan-style slacktivism histrionics should be seen as a valid reason to rebuke feature requests, gnomesaiyan?

This. If you want to post external media, post a link or download it and reupload as an attachment.

>>6653
It's not a matter of "sticking it to the man" so much as letting you decide whether you want to have another site sticking its business into your browsing session.

Well that's interesting. I guess I stand corrected! I'd even go so far as to delete the post itself and issue a correction of sorts, but because I didn't have the foresight to manually generate a password for myself and my individual post beforehand I suppose I can't.

Why is this a concern to begin with though? Ignoring the private sector, every bit of data (pun intended) you send careening through your coaxial cable is already being logged by your ISP and our good friends at the Utah Data Center anyway, in my opinion it doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference if it's Google or the Googlevernment doing it. It's already done, might as well make use of it.

While it is an unsettling thought, somewhere out there someone knows your internet secrets and they might even be making money from it somehow like Hiroyuki of 4chan, Jim of 8chan or the guys that own Discord do. It's the current year + 2 and this is its internet whether we like it or not.

It's not a 4chan feature tho, it's a completely innocuous vichan one. By all appearances Lynxchan already does this. I'm just suggesting an additional form in the posting area that allows you to embed a video in place of submitting a file.

Given this revelation, unless you're going to now say that this pre-existing feature is a mistake that needs to be retroactively removed you needn't be so dismissive of my suggestion, I feel.

I can't remember the conditions in which it wasn't embedding, maybe I clicked on it before the post went live? At any rate, I hope you know what I'm talmbout now in case there was any confusion earlier.

odili just make the youtube embed a togglable feature for board owners, turned off by default

that way you can satisfy both /pol/ and /4chon/

Nah.

What he said is a great idea and a wonderful compromise (provided one is even necessary). You're just projecting your personal nerd principles onto strangers on the internet to the detriment of the site. Youtube has close to 80% of the video streaming market share and you can probably count the people that use anything other than youtube exclusively, whether because of MUH INSCRUTABLE DATA MUHFUCKA or because they somehow don't know what it is as a small fraction of one percent.

Glad to see that YouTube embedding has been added. One tiny thing I'd like to see in it is an [Unembed] button.

It wasn't added, it's always been. My suggestion is just to add a feature that orients it with a preview in lieu of an image file like they do on 8chan.

You need to be saved from yourself, you would piss away your freedom to privacy and speech for a fucking thumbnail.

I'm surprised you've been able to evade the waves of black helicopters google's sent for you this long considering it's been a standard feature on 8chan from the beginning, my man.

Maybe 4chan, where terrifying features like youtube embedding being formatted in a certain way or text shared between quick reply and reply forms can't hurt you anymore would be a safer option, though?

Funny, only an actual retard would mock the man trying to help you. I would let you destroy yourself if it didn't affect me also. You are like the african who shits in his drinking water and attacks the european aid workers.

I know you are but what am I?

With all due respect you're not really helping anything man, all you're doing from my perspective is preventing an innocuous legacy vichan/tinyboard feature from being implemented through baseless fear mongering. If you really wanted to help me you'd be all like:

"Yeah bro sorry about that, it was pretty darn silly of me to be so vocally opposed to reorienting/supplementing an existing feature which revolves around a video and audio plagiarism website that probably 99% of people with an internet connection make use of on a daily basis. I've changed my mind and am now behind this radical idea with every fiber of my being!"

There's still time to change your mind!

it's 32 characters now, how long do you need it? It's going to cause me to have to rebalance the CSS.

>>6639
>image
Hash is important for hash banning. Your custom CSS is causing the layout problems. You can't truncate a hash like that without causing even bigger problems.

The return link is maybe the only issue I can fix.

>thought it would be nice to be able to edit any user submitted data
I'll bring this up with StephenLynx

>can you make it so you can embed media from youtube, vimeo etc. in a post
>in the same way you can with vichan
Not in the same way as vichan but I'm going to make it so that you can put any oembed supported site links in the text of the post and it'll add a thumbnail to the media list as well as the current embed link.

>>6659
LynxChan makes a vichan selector very hard to implement.

>>6745
Doable

this is great but can you make it so a youtube embed can count as a file and be used to satisfy the rule "Internal server error. This board requires at least one file when creating threads"?

odilitime 07/14/2017 (Fri) 06:26:33 [Preview] No. 6770 del

That is not easily done. You can ask your BO turn off image requirement for threads in the meantime.
