RULES 2016 EDITION

1. Obey global rules

2. Keep things related to history and its study.

2a. History, for the purposes of this board, covers pre-History and all events up to the fall of the Soviet Union. Further than that and it's considered political discussion or discussion of modern events- take it to /pol/ or /b/.

3. If lewd images must be posted, do so on spoilers. Consider if it wouldn't be better posted elsewhere.

3-a. If you're in doubt whether it's lewd enough to spoiler, err on the side of caution and do it.

GUIDELINES- not quite rules, but good to follow for good posting

1. Check the catalog before posting to see if a thread may already be available for your discussion.

1a. Avoid making threads expecting people to just do your homework for you. Show some work yourself in starting the discussion instead of just "guys what was the main reason for the fall of Sebastianism in the 19th century"

Message too long. Click here to view full text.

How would historical events in Europe have gone different if the Jews had never immigrated to Europe because of the Romans?

How did you get rid of the UIPs responsible for the /am/ spam? It's like 120 there now even though we all know 110 of them are from the bot. I'm having trouble gauging boards accurately because of that.

I hate to tell you /his/ but I have been informed by a friend of mine that all mammals and land treading animals, as well as most oceanic animals have in fact evolved WRONG. See the squid's eye is correct, and every other species has their eyes WRONG. We evolved WRONG our cone and rods are on the back of our eye, whereas the squid has their cones and rods on the front.

Why would you ever want your cones and rods on the back of the eye while they should be on the front? We can't see, raptorous birds can't see, cats can't see, nothing can really see. Only squid can see and we have evolved WRONG the squid is far more advanced because it evolved right.

Calling attention to this documentary, which sets out to tell the history of private central banking in America. It documents the different ways it can be established, the tools it uses for control, how it took over America, after most of the world. And it presents the alternatives that have been repeatedly suppressed by international banking cartels for hundreds of years.

Big props to Bill Still for making this. He still makes videos on his YT channel on a regular basis (he supports Trump btw).

i knackered the audio completely so i could halve the episodes, instead of cutting them into thirds. woud yall prefer better audio, or less pieces? it takes about as much work on my end to do it either way

heres that tutorial i promised like a month ago.
the problem i was having is that the default bitrate for OBS is obscene. 1000000? really?

also im going to finish the series out as webm's for consistancy's sake, but when i start back at one to upload them as a full file, im changing over to mp4s because there isnt a media player on android that can play webms worth a damn, and mp4 only marginally increases the file size, if at all.

Historical memes/shitposting/anonymity Anonymous 01/05/2016 (Tue) 05:28:26 Id: 09fe70 [Preview] No. 22 [Reply]
The whole "Rome was built on the backs of shitposters" threads on /his/ and /v/ got me thinking, do we have any other examples of imageboard-esque culture and memes throughout history that are similar to the ones today? It's hilarious and awe-inspiring to see how people from different times and cultures throughout all human existence often had a lot of things in common if you look deep enough.
I sometimes wonder if there was a historical equivalent of baneposting.

Julius ceasar vs patton. its a sword fight with their weapon of choice.
i must remind you that patton designed his own saber, studied with the best fencers of the day, and was the last US master of the sword.

woudlnt the indians have learned not to trust the white man after getting fucked over the first time?

>Germanic tribes virtually infiltrated
there was no infiltration, it wasnt a secret. for the purposes of discsussion, its no different than the sandiggers pouring over into europe right now, with the exception that there was little the roman army could do to stop it.

to elaborate on the germans getting wise to the romans tactics, its not like rome won every battle they ever went into, nor did they ever conquer all of the germanic peoples.
the difference was that germanic tribes didnt have a strict training regimene per i dont know much about germanic combat training or tactics, but i think the general idea is that they didnt do very much training, or at least in a way that we would recognize as training. the other thing is that rome could eat major defeats and loss of troops, and not even lose their footing, its how they won the punic wars. presumably these two things factored into it.

I think the Germanic tribes were somewhat like the Celts in battle i.e. they engaged individually and were more concerned with glory or daring acts like how the equites would try to kill a commander or the leader of an army although I'm not entirely sure since it has been a while since I've read up on Germanic tactics and army organization.

why was every story in the ancient world written as a poem? was there some reason it all had to rhyme, or was that just the best way to kill time or something. did people writing non-fiction, like Thucydides and aristotle, write in some rhyming verse?

If you actually took the time to look and not whine about your antiquated ideology you'd find that Poetry and classical art is alive and well today. If you're gonna spout your shit all over this board like what happened to 8chan, kindly fuck off to to your containment board.

I found this on the first page of startpage
http://www.figurativeartist.org/category/contemporary-figurative-sculpture/

Poetry isn't really my thing and tends to be more subjective than painting or sculpture

while i appreciate the link, figurative sculptures are not necessarily hellenistic or idealist sculptures.
for example, this is all artsy farsty bullshit.
