Honestly I'm probably more hyper critical about the show then I should be. Part of that comes from friends who got me to watch it swearing how amazing it was and then waxing philosophical about how deep the show is when in reality its only deep if you aren't well read.
Admittedly the shows best episodes are in fact the ones that try to show a consistent philosophical idea and sprinkle in subtle humor of all kinds. I just saw so much forced random humor it detracted from most the episodes.
I haven't seen the second season I might check it out eventually, but the show is kind of tailored to the angsty 420 and vaping scene of young adults. I would say it was always popular with normies of that group and by natural growth spread out to their friends by word of mouth and lauding praises. At least that is how I found out about it. I wouldn't be so critical about the show except for how annoying fanboys are about how supposedly deep and amazing and funny it is.
