It's true we have shorter attention spans. I used to be able to spend hours studying in a library but now I can't go two pages without the itch to look at my smart phone, and my parents also say they don't have the attention span to read books now. I think there might be chemical poisoning in addition to instant gratification changing our ability to get depth of knowledge.

Unlike the complacent retards, I am trying to fix myself though. I plan to lock myself in the library for a few hours every day that I have free time, and order myself to study something useful or no more internet for me on that day. It'll be painful and I will have internet withdraw syndromes at first, but mental exercise needs training just like real exercise.
