They're talking about getting rid of the 50mb filesize. Apparently nobody can find an affordable server to host our shit on, and if traffic goes up then they're going to have to keep the bandwidth down. Well, let's enjoy it while it lasts. Thanks for the dump.

This thread is a great idea, OP. Didn't you guys see HOW MANY fucking shorts there are this season? You could put Sushi Police, Marshmallow, Teach Me Tits-Sama, Landlord, and Sakko Boys up this way because it's honsetly a waste of time looking for and downloading them.

You might scoff but it uses HTML-5 which means you need only a right-click to save the videos, and they're in mp4 which makes it a simple matter to re-up them here, like so.

I was going to start uploading Gosick soon but then I started messing around with vp9 and some other options to try and squeeze out more quality. So far everything is looking good, but since vp9 takes much longer to encode my testing might take a little while longer.

Anonymous 04/20/2016 (Wed) 10:08:54 [Preview] No. 1611 del
Changing to vp9 improved the quality a fair bit by itself, so I'll leave it at that for now. Boy the encoding time is long for a single episode though. I'll also be tweaking some stuff so future episodes may look better.

I also figured out why non non biyori was reporting as corrupt in some browsers. It was because I had the subtitle file still attached and apparently firefox shits the bed when it encounters subtitle files.

Anyway, enjoy.

Thanks for the uploads, anon.
But could you STOP FUCKING HARDCODING THE SUBS?!

Pretty please. It's fucking $CURRENT_YEAR, this problem was solved like a millennium ago.

And the problem reported in >>1586 was not about upstream Firefox, only about some variants. But still what brand of imbecile watches these episodes in a browser? We all use a proper media player, surely.

Anonymous 04/20/2016 (Wed) 12:48:41 [Preview] No. 1619 del
>>1618
If I don't hardcode the subs they don't appear if you play it back in your browser you stupid idiot. Just because you watch these through a media player, doesn't everyone is going to watch them through a media player.

These aren't for you to download and archive or some shit. The quality is eye cancer compared to the source. So, if it's quality that you're looking for, go to nyaa. These are just here for people who want to quickly watch something when they're bored or something.

Anonymous 05/08/2016 (Sun) 09:58:02 [Preview] No. 1645 del
>>1644
I'm no expert in this but the few minutes that I watched looked fine. 66mb isn't really all that big anyway. If you're not using vp9, I suggest giving it a try, and doing a 2-pass encode (in the vp9 tests I did with just a single pass, the bitrate would never get anywhere near the bitrate I told it to use for whatever reason). Also use opus for the audio if you aren't already, since it provides better audio quality with lower bitrates. Just try encoding the first few minutes for testing purposes since vp9 takes ages. All you can do from there is just mess around with the bitrates until you get something that both looks good and isn't bloated compared to the original file size and the tests you've done previously. That's what I do anyway.

Also, if you haven't looked at these images, they've got some useful info >>1579 >>1581

Started using 2 passes and bumped the bitrate up a bit since the faster scenes were looking a bit blocky. That also means the file size has jumped up to around ~190mb per episode.

I have some bad news. I was reinstalling Windows onto one of my spare drives and it decided it didn't want to create all of its partitions on the drive specified during installation.

As a result, one of the partitions was created on the encrypted drive I keep all my anime on and I can no longer mount it with veracrypt. Seriously, what the fuck windows. Why even ask where I want to install it if you're going to go and do your own thing anyway? I have no idea if I'll be able to recover anything, but I'll see what I can do.

Moral of the story: Fuck windows.

It helps if you know what you're doing. At one time or another I have installed all versions of Windows on one partition of a single hard drive, two versions of Windows on two separate partitions of a single hard drive, on a separate hard drive of a machine that was running another version of Windows, Linux or Ubuntu, and I have never had the problem that you describe. The partitions that Windows creates during initial installation of the operating system are created for a reason. One of the partitions is a recovery partition that stores a copy of the operating system that you are installing, so that recovery can be achieved in case of viruses or other unforeseen circumstances. You did not specify which version of Windows you were installing, and you did not specify whether you were using a factory Windows installation disk or a copy you got from a friend. You also did not say whether or not you did a virus scan before you tried reinstalling Windows. Usually when the kind of problem that you described occurs, it turns out to be pilot error, not the fault of the OS itself.

You also did not say whether you were installing it on a "spare" physical hard drive or on a partition of a hard drive. Trying to install Windows or any operating system on a partition that is too small to accommodate it can result in bizarre behavior, from simple "not enough disk space available" to the installer expanding the partition, taking the needed disk space from a neighboring partition. You always want to have about one and a half times the required space for the operating system so that errors like you described do not occur.

With your sketchy description of what happened, this seems like the most likely scenario that would account for the Windows installer taking part of another drive or partition that results in lost data.

If you were using separate physical hard drives, and not partitions of a single hard drive, then next time try removing the encrypted drive BEFORE reinstalling Windows. That way there is no way that the installer can wreck it.

It was a separate drive. I usually do remove all my other hard drives when installing any OS but I just couldn't be bothered this time. I was thinking that unplugging all my drives was just me getting overly paranoid that something bad would happen. Well, who'da thunk that the only time I leave my drives in, the problem I dread actually happens.

I figured out not long after that the partition it created on the encrypted drive was the windows boot loader. I have no idea why it decided to chuck it somewhere other than the specified drive, and I don't recall being given an option or any warning that it was going to do that, but I'm just glad it decided to put the partition on my anime drive instead of my backup drive. Anime is replaceable.

>>1834
I know what I'm doing. I've installed Windows (7 in this particular case) hundreds of times. The partition definitely wasn't too small. It was a brand new 1tb hard drive. I literally have no idea why it did what it did.

I'll just continue to be my normal paranoid self in the future and remove all drives when installing operating systems, Windows in particular.

>autist's first critique is the lack of traffic and background characters

Does he realize just how low budget anime is?

>faggot complains about "muh cellphone service moral dilemma"

Seriously? Why the fuck would people who are fighting for their lives give a fuck about something so fucking trivial?

>complaining about characters accepting the existence of a god

They were just given cellphones with magical abilities...Not just that but Japan is a very spiritual place. Is this faggot just pretending to be retarded?

>bitching about a terrorist wearing a maid outfit
>bitching about people not questioning the maid outfit

It's a fucking terrorist, someone who's off their rocker. Why would anyone start to question why a batshit insane, internationally wanted criminal, does batshit insane shit?

>muh cyborg dogs and why isn't anybody questioning

Maybe it has to do with the fact that they've seen god himself, and shit so magical, mere cyborg dogs stop being amazing... I hate this whiny faggot so much right now, he's cherry picking hard.

>muh deaf wife

Okay, he has a point there.

>muh weird proportions on a practically joke character

It's silly, but how does this affect the plot what so ever aside from triggering his autism?

>muh DBZ power levels

We're talking about people who recieved magical cellphones and a direct meeting with god... Not just that but the power levels aren't even that absurd outside of the gay android and Yuno herself.

>hurrr I need an explanation on how Minene planted the bombs on Yukiteru's school

Seriously nigger? This is not Sherlock Fucking Holmes, or some sort of mystery thriller. It's an action suspense work, what matters is the action that leads to suspenseful events, not the when and how. He also says a bunch of other things go unexplained, yet I bet he would bitch about "needless exposition" if such a thing were explained anyhow. Hell he probably bitches about such a thing later on.

>muh why is a bored god on the verge of death who loves Yukiteru the most, being so bitchy and vain so as to entertaining the whims of a retarded power hungry human despite him knowing Yukiteru his favorite creation will probably win the contest anyhow

Okay this faggot is either brain dead or just trying as hard as possible to cherry picking any and all details possible.

VP9 really doesn't handle blacks and dark colours well. It artifacts the shit out of them even with an insanely high bitrate. Did a few tests with HEVC and HEVC handles blacks waaaaaaay better.

Can't wait to see what VP10 and the new AOMedia video codec can do.

vbr, at least in my experience with vp9, doesn't exactly play well, especially when the source suddenly moves into a fast moving scene. If you're trying to use a low bitrate it will come out bit-starved and artifacts out the ass for the duration of that scene. Crf will up the bitrate when it encounters those fast moving scenes and lower itself back down afterwards. The only downside is you have to learn what crf levels produce what bitrate for whatever source you are using.

I just changed my distro to Solus and found out they don't have libopus enabled in ffmpeg for some retarded reason. I've lodged a ticked on their dev portal about compiling with opus support, so until ffmpeg gets updated I won't be encoding any further episodes of Planetes.

Hopefully it'll only take a few days.

The ffmpeg maintainer enabled opus and the updated version is sitting in the unstable repo. Should be in stable within the next few days.

In the meantime I'll just be using vorbis for the audio, so it may sound a bit more tinny than usual.
